The Poker Players Alliance which is widely known as PPA has given a check for $25,000 to the United Service Organizations of Metropolitan Washington, moreover the charity poker tournament which has been organized at the Regency Hyatt, has raised additional sum of $10,000. The funds will be directed to the support of the programs and services of USO-Metro helping to the wounded warriors and the members of their families who receive treatment at the National Naval Medical Center, Walter Reed Army Medical Center and the area Warrior Transition Units.
During this tournament 30 wounded warriors has played with the poker pros, among them we can mention such famous poker players as Annie Duke, Greg Raymer, Linda Johnson, Jan Fisher, Dennis Phillips and some others. The members of Congress: Shelley Berkley, Xavier Becerra, Martin Heinrich, Pete King, Tom Perriello also have taken part in the evening festivals. The Armey Sergeant Bret Chevalier has become the winner and got the trip to Las Vegas. The idea of such tournament is really great, the poker pros and the members of Congress has been able to support the wounded warriors.
The USO is the organization helping to the warriors and their families who need the treatment and recover at the military hospitals, it provides patient excursions, emergency housing, handshake tours and other nice actions aimed to support not only the fiscal condition, but the morale. The current tourney has given the opportunity to the wounded warriors to relax and draw away from the everyday problems.

Today we can sum up the results of the 2009 WSOP Main Event, it has become the real fairytale for eight finalists of this year. All of them can be called the millionaires, because it is the usual sequent of the seat at the final table. The first days of the exiting Main Event have attracted the attention of the general public and another important WSOP event falls back into the shadow. The widely known poker charity championship Ante Up for Africa has been organized for the third time in the context of WSOP. The team of organizers includes such people as Norman Epstein, Don Cheadle, Annie Duke tries to help to their Africal friends.
This charity championship often passes unnoticed, but this year it becomes really global. It includes the large celebrity tournout, many famous people have visited it, and among them can be found Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Nelly, Charles Barkley, Sarah Silverman and many others not counting numerous C-list stars. The world famous poker pros have also attended Ante Up for Africa. Daniel Negreanu, Jason Mercier, Jennifer Harman, Greg Mueller, Phil Hellmuth and some other professionals have competed with the starts with the great pleasure. Certainly at the end of the tourney it becomes clear that poker play need much skills and experience and it’s very difficult to be a good player and is much easier to look like it, so it’s not the big surprise that poker pros gain the upper hand.
The champion Alex Bolotin has decided to support the event and the half of his $176,449 prize he donate back to the charity. 138 players who have attended the championship have paid $5,000 buy-in 18 cashed, it means that about $360,000 has been collected in order to help to the Africans.

Phil Hellmuth well-known as “the Poker Brat,” he is the regular participant of the WSOP events and has already had eleven golden bracelets for the tournaments. Hellmuth has decided his own game is over and as he has never tested his heads-up card skills before, he competes in causticity with Mike Thorpe and Alex Keating at the first and second tables correspondingly. There are some rumours that Helmut has not been able to finish the play with Keating, in the end he has demanded to talk with the Tournament Director, Jack Effel.
The scandal goes on into the Top 20, both of the poker players Helmut and Keating made something out of nothing and accused of favoritism. Very soon this feud attracted much attention, they were advised to behave correctly and to stop the quarrel, as the result the game had to be continued. This difficult situation certainly influenced much on the other players at the table. During the break Mike Thorpe meddled in the altercation, but it couldn’t be called the positive fact. Mike Thorpe was the first who left the game, but the next was his opponent Phil Hellmuth. But Alex Keating watched closely for the game and it was he who surpassed him. But Marc Naalden became the main winner of the Sunday tournament. He took the first place and got the bracelet and $190,770. It was the first WSOP victory for the Dutch poker pro, though it was the fourth time when he took part in the events of WSOP.

It has been recently announced that the 13th Full Tilt Online Poker Series (FTOPS XIII) will include 25 tourneys with guaranteed total prize of$16 millions. The series will start on the 5th of August and will last up to 16th of August.
FTOPS XIII is going to start with Non-limit Hold’em tourney with guaranteed prize of $1 million, the culmination of the whole Action will come to be so-called “Main Event” with buy-in of $535 and guaranteed prize package of $2.5 million. Pocketownage420, the ex-winner of the previous “Main Event” was awarded with package of $432,400 for his considerable efforts.
Thus, within twelve days 25 tourneys will be played up. In addition to the abovementioned tourneys, two more events will take place with the guaranteed prize package of over $1 million.
Unlike the previous Full Tilt Online Poker Series, MiniFTOPS series won’t be held in accordance with the basic series. Instead, it will be played off since September 9, 2009. Keep in mind, that Mini Full Tilt Online Poker Series is an exclusive series, where buy-ins are approximately equal to one-tenth of major FTOPS tourneys’ buy-ins.

Interesting results of the WSOP 2009 tourneys have been recently published: Jeffrey Lisandro – a poker professional from Australia has won his third bracelet World Series, the fourth one was when he earned $2,500 buy-in for the special event called Seven Card Razz. Additionally to his wins at both events ($10,000 buy-in World Championship Seven Card Stud Hi/Lo Eight or Better tourney and $1,500 buy-in Seven Card Stud Hi tourney), Jeffrey has earned titles in every major Seven Card Stud varient. Lisandro has already gained the status of the best Seven Card Stud player all over the world, besides, all his awards have also led him to the status of the Player of the Year race.
The ex-winner and hockey player at the same time – Greg Mueller – won his second WSOP bracelet in $1,500 buy-in Limit Hold’em Shootout tourney. This winning also brought him extra $195,000 together with his earlier winning in $10,000 buy-in World Championship Limit Hold’em tourney. The total number of Mueller’s winnings in poker events of this year made over $700,000 and currently his WSOP earnings already exceed $1.5 million.
In $50,000 buy-in H.O.R.S.E. event, our pride – Russian poker pundit Vitaly Lunkin – has won at $40,000 buy-in 40th Anniversary tourney which brought him about $1.9 million. Besides, he has taken the second place at $10,000 buy-in World Championship Pot-Limit Omaha tournament and hit at $10,000 buy-in World Championship Mixed tournament.
Altogether these facts lead to the anticipation for $10,000 buy-in World Championship No-Limit Hold’em Main Tourney which starts already on the 3rd of July. The top poker event winds down to the final table at 15th of July. The final table is going to take place on the 7th of November; the Top Event champion will be awarded in November 10.
